Warnemunde
Day 4 ; we arrived in our first port: the German town of Warnemunde near to the Hanseatic port of Rostock this morning. After a leisurely breakfast we set off to explore on foot. The berth is only 10 minutes from this charming seaside town. This former fishing village was lovely : clean spacious and quiet; we saw the sights such as Edvard Munsch house, fishermen’s cottages, walked along the promenade to the west pier ( green pilot station) looking across to the east pier ( red) in photo
We saw the basket chairs Strandkob which were invented here in 1882, the light house and Teapot cafe.
We then walked back through town to the windmill built in 1866 before returning to Balmoral for lunch and an afternoon on deck in glorious sunshine!
