Inverewe gardens

Saturday.
We had a really good nights sleep and it was nice to have a rest from the radiotherapy , just two to go next week.
The breakfast was fantastic, everything was good.I’m not usually a fan of buffet breakfasts but this was one of the best we’ve had. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.
We had a quick look at the harbour in Gairloch before making our way to Inverewe Gardens. The sun came out and we enjoyed over 4 hours exploring the grounds and just sitting , chatting and listening to the bird song.
The walled garden is very sheltered so the camellia and wisteria were looking good. Iris , Welsh poppies added more colour. The top beds were ready for Summer planting .
The rhododendrons , azelas and the candelabra primulas were at their best.
We had soup and rolls and shared a piece of pistachio and lemon sponge cake.
We then made our way home, stopping a few times for a cup of tea from the flask.
Ecided not to head to Ullapool for fish and chips but got scampi and chips from Fortrose instead.
The evening was spent watching the Eurovision Song Contest , the ones we liked did not get many votes.
