There'll Be Days Like These
We have made it to the North Island but not without a little drama. At 4 am the BRC or big red car as it is now called would not start. It had started to exit the garage and be loaded then nothing. What to do? We do have a light utility vehicle so unload and pack into that. BRC was left locked on the driveway and we put the key in a gumboot on the porch. It was a quiet drive to Picton. The ferry people weren't worried we were boarding in another make and size of vehicle. When it was daylight the forester rang Andrew and explained the situation. He found the car key and tested the battery and put it on a charger. Later today he reported BRC could be started and was put back in the garage. He will check again tomorrow and further action can be taken. What a wonderful friend and neighbour.
The ferry crossing was calm and I slept most of the way. Our son kindly worked from home today and in the afternoon he and I went to collect Finn from day care. He is much taller than in January and talking far more. We did puzzles on the floor and I was okay with the jungle animals but the dinosaur one tested me. He knows all the names and likes to act out what they do and the noises they make so puzzles became a physical activity.
A day that didn't start well has ended well.
