Thirteen Years

You need to go back to 2010 for the last time the Navy beat the Army at Twickenham, there was a draw in 2016 but that’s a result that left nobody happy.

The Army Navy fixture has taken place every year since 1907, with three exceptions: There was a break in play between 1915-1919 due to the first world war and between 1940-1945 due to the second world war. In 2020 and 2021 the fixture was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

I’ve been going since the mid ‘70’s and the rare Navy wins are always enjoyed, especially todays 39-22 victory where the Navy completely outplayed the Army and fully deserved their win.

The day is always a great family occasion, this year twenty-three of us, family and friends, thoroughly enjoyed the day. The striking rail workers ensured that we found a slightly more expensive but hassle free and quicker alternative.

The taxi took us directly back to Woking where with an accompanying beer I managed two Nando’s chicken meals.

In a first I was tucked up in my hotel bed by 10:30pm on an Army v Navy day full of peri peri chicken and slightly inebriated.
Happy Days
