Chinatown
Singapore is an Asian stew, with a British side dish. There are people from the Middle East, stretching all through central and south east Asia. And of course it was a British port for a long time so it has that flavor as well.
We're told that there is an unspoken hierarchy of people. Chinese own the banks and all that and basically control the city/country. Then come upper caste Indians, Indonesians, Malay, lower Indians, Philippinos, or something like that. I may have the order wrong. I don't know where the expats fit in.
Each group has their own piece of the city. Today we visited Chinatown. Looked at some cheap junk, and some nice stuff. Ate some very slimey authentic Chinese foodstuff too.
