Not splitting hares!

Saw this hare on our way back from Strichen.
I think it’s always lovely to see them but I always think they look rather scared.
Can’t say I blame them!
Hare coursing is illegal in this country but it is still carried on by some unscrupulous and cruel groups.
Someone else was telling me that when he was young, his father used to go out shooting hares and then ate them.
Why wouldn’t they be scared of humans!!!
