Trebah Gardens by the Helford River. SW Cornwall.
You could be thinking we are actually on holiday abroad in some sub-tropical place!
This is the terrace at the beginning of the extensive lush gardens set in a deeply sloping valley which goes right down to the edge of the Helford River.
Every vista is stunning. There are all kinds of different pathways to take, and a map to follow, which you receive at the Reception.
I cannot really find the words to describe just how much I enjoyed every view. I will post some more in extras, as I took so many photos!
Having walked from the entrance down through the lushness and beauty you arrive at a private beach looking out on to the lovely Helford River, which is tidal.
There is a small discreet building there which dispenses ice creams and hot or cold drinks, I had a Rum and Raisin ice cream in a waffle cone, sitting on part of the sea wall.
Then we made our way back on one of the higher paths in the trees above the lush valley slopes, stopping at each twist and turn just to gaze in silence.
There are lovely rustic wooden seats, no back, at strategic intervals, which must have been chosen for the views you have when taking a bit if a breather.
The water garden is delightful, as it meanders along the valley floor, a soothing sound. Here is a link to some information and photos about the place. I’ve also put some more photos in extras.
