Pink and white bells
A dry day today, though the sun didn't really appear until mid-afternoon.
After a doc's appointment and a knee x-ray at the hospital in the morning I went down again to buy a few things and met a friend who works at Homebase. We were talking about gardening and I told her that I had two compost bags of celandines looking for a home. Apparently the housing association which built the houses where she lives planted some trees in the field at the front of the houses, cut the grass a couple of times and then went away, leaving either a mess or a flower meadow, depending on your point of view! Anyway, she agreed to take the celandines and scatter them over the field - with a bit of luck the million tubers will get a hold and create a lovely show!
On the way back I stopped at the end of our road to photograph this patch of bluebells, which include white and pink ones too. There's no evidence to assume that Spanish bluebells are involved as most people would think - they're all very much like our natives, hanging down on one side of the stem. I think it's a fairly normal thing to happen - I remember at Arduaine where we had swathes of native bluebells that whites and pink would occasionally pop up.
Spent most of the rest of the day gardening, sat out in the sun for a while with a book and a cuppa, and was pleased to see that the timber staircase is just about finished. Joiner man will be coming back in the morning to clear up, then it's over to me with a paintbrush!
