In Västerås
We had porridge for breakfast this morning and some of K’s rye sourdough toast and a lovely cup of coffee. Delicious!! We then went out for a walk in the forest. Back home I dealt with a load of washing, we had another coffee then drove into the centre of Västerås and walked along the side of the river past beautiful beds of tulips and down to the lake. We went to a Japanese restaurant for a sushi lunch. The sushi was very good but I made the mistake of eating a large piece of pickled ginger (not the pink variety) and my mouth started burning. So, after we’d finished our meal, we walked to an ice cream stand for ice creams. I stuck with plain vanilla and it did a good job of taking the heat out of my mouth. While we ate our ice creams we wandered along past the marina at the edge of the lake then back through the main shopping centre to the car. It was a beautiful sunny day, although the wind was a tad cold out of the sun. We had a relaxing couple of hours before starting preparations for supper - sausages and asparagus on the barbecue, grilled peppers filled with all sorts of delicious things and a clementine and ginger mousse. We even sat outside to eat, which was a first this year for our friends. We’ve done a lot of talking and reminiscing and setting the world to rights - not that the world has noticed!! It’s been a very good day.
