Coming round the bend.
‘ Sing a song of May-rime.
Sing a son of Spring.
Flowers are in their beauty.
Birds are on the wing.’
We have had such a great journey home , driving up The Fosse Way. This was the only lorry we came across as the road was quiet.
The countryside was looking it’s best, especially on such a beautiful day with the sun shining, and the blue sky. May is my favourite month.
I don’t remember the hawthorn blossom looking so lovely for many years. Also the verges full of cow parsley. It really took your breath away.
Also one of our best journeys ever with no holdups.
Back home, and one lot of washing done already, but the most important thing is to sort out the garden. Many pots need watering. The potatoes are now above the bags and should have been earthed up. I never expected them to grow so much in 2 weeks.
Nice to see tulips still flowering which were in bud when we left. Also some climbing roses out, and a lovely clump of yellow and white irises.
Unfortunately none of the fuchsias have survived this winter, but the alstroemeria ‘ Indian Summer’ I have in a pot is looking fine.
So as always you win some, you loose some.
Anyhow it is really nice to come home to beautiful weather, and I have just sat out relaxing with a glass of chilled white wine!
Lovely end to a wonderful holiday.
