Day 13 (At Sea)
A day at sea, which was much appreciated. A wee bit of a lie in, and down to the restaurant for breakfast for a change. JR wnet to the gym. It's been a relaxing day all round. We went to an interesting talk on China and its fascinating history and place in the world.
JR went to a fashion show of some kind, and I had a snooze and then went for an ice cream. I happened to meet Moira, and we then had a game of table tennis, then a coffee at the Arts Cafe. Moira and Richard are seasoned cruisers, and have travelled the world.
We arranged to meet them later, and David our other friend, in the lounge for pre drinkies. There is usually a pianist twinkling on the ivories, which is 100 times better than the piped muzak that prevails throughout. However, this evening there was a singer. And not the fabulous jazz singer of a couple of nights ago in the restaurant... - no, this girl was a screecher. I'm afraid I couldn't stand it. And I knew Richard couldn't stand it either, but was too polite to say. I insisted we move to find a quieter spot. And we did find the perfect spot - out on the back deck of the jazz lounge, NO muzak, NO wind, and the most perfect evening as we sailed by the Dardanelles. MUCH better than listening to an Amy Winehouse wannabe with her microphone level tuned on FULL.
It has been rather cloudy today, and windy. The pool has been empty - I was told it was COLD, so stalwarts were sitting in the three hot pools.
We had a lovely meal with our very well travelled pals. I have not taken any photos today, so these are three from the Ephesus visit (you can see how the archaeologists have fixed all the chunks of broken masonry back together again - amazing) and one showing the big Celebrity ship and our wee one.
A busy day in Istanbul tomorrow, with two trips, including dinner in a palace...
