Thistle with altitude

It was car service & day today and I had to hobble back from the garage after dropping the car off.  This took a lot longer than normal and made for painful day without much work done.  Headed back to pick the car up via the library as the library's copy of "RHS Resilient Garden: Sustainable gardening for a changing climate" * was waiting for me to collect it.  

I have started a new policy of trying to borrow books from the library before or instead of buying where possible.  Partly clutter reduction, partly cost cutting, but mostly learning that I don't need to own something to enjoy it.

I spotted this thistle on my return from the garage.  I have never seen one that high before!
