Uncertain Emotions

The Snake and the Boat

Not as sunny today, but at least the rain didn't start until later - 2 locks into a 12 lock flight :-(

Having covered the boat in egg yolk yesterday morning, I opted for a safer breakfast today (the world's thickest sliced bread with Gold Marmite :-) before we set off on another day's sailing.

It was a long haul today and as the rain set in for the evening, Cap'n Lawrie kindly took over the driving whilst H1 and I drank wine below deck with the log burner.

There was a fine homemade meat & potato pie in a pub in Congleton and a very cool bridge where we had to stop the traffic (well, one car) whilst part of the road lifted up and swung out of the way so we could pass in the boat.

We also tried to help a stranded day-boat that had got itself firmly grounded and listing to one side, but they declined our offer of a tow and opted to remain stuck, whilst prodding at the bank with a pole. Then another day boat got stuck. They got themselves clear, but I'm really hoping the first boat isn't still stuck there...

This photo is of t'boat coming through a snake bridge.

More photos will appear on my new blog in due course.
