Another walk, another gravestone

I knew Amanda. She was indeed a gentle soul. She was also a smoker, and died of a smoking related disease.

Sadly, her brother, the more famous writer Rick Vick, died a couple of years later, of cancer. Not long before the first lockdown, I think I remember.

In a strange coincidence, the writer Martin Amis, who has just died of cancer, was Rick and Amanda's next door neighbour in London, when they were children. Amanda once described him as "a horrid little boy".
