Day 3 Zafra to Mérida

 An easy 39 mile ride this morning pretty much down hill all the way. We stopped half way in a very pretty park for a picnic. The route was not exciting but Mérida is gorgeous. We crossed the river on the world's longest surviving Roman bridge. We're staying at a 5 star hotel,  the Mérida Palace with a roof top pool - it is probably 10foot long! But I dragged Mr PB for a quick swim. I was very excited about the kettle in our room,  a first so far. After a dip in the pool we managed the miracle of finding a vegetarian restaurant in Spain! All fueled up we've spent the afternoon looking around the astonishing Roman amphitheatre and theatre. Mérida is a fantastic place. The mosaics are stunning. The museum building was as impressive as its contents.
