A barn in a Field!

On Sunday, I headed up to Bassenfell Manor to join in there 30 year celebrations.

I remember going to these Christian Adventure Holiday camps which were held at the lake district just outside Keswick in the early 80's as a fresh faced teenager - and back then we would all be camping in a field - the leaders of the camp had a vision for something a wee bit more permanent and prayed that God would provide them with "A barn in a field" - He didn't....instead he gave them (what was at the time) a run down old Hotel/Manor House.

It has come along way since then - through the hard efforts/financial sacrifice and faithful prayers, of many people, the place has changed amazingly over the years with so many young (and not so young) - church/youth and school groups all enjoying this fantastic venue and making some amazing friends and also life changing experiences as well.

So it was time for my boys to have a look around the place and before some geocaching around the grounds, it was time to abseil of the top tower.

This is Jonathan making his way down with Isaac looking on from above. They both loved it and maybe they will follow in their dads footsteps and head there for the summer camps and have adventures of their own!!
