National Theatre

Firstly, thank you for your stars and comments for our visit to Buck House on Wednesday.  I did update the blurb about how me met the Duchess.

Back to today.  I have mentioned before how Mr C found a cousin (2nd I think) through ancestry who was originally from the area both Mr C and I were brought up in but has lived in America since her university days and tries to visit the UK every year to catch up with family.  A couple of weeks a go she was packing her case for her visit and realised her passport ran out in February.  This was a rather long explanation to say how we were gifted tickets they had bought to attend Dancing at Lughnasa at the NT on the Southbank (they also had tickets for the Chelsea flower show on Wednesday!).

Lovely weather although rather breezy along the Thames.  We sat outside the theatre in the sunshine, ate some street food and had a little wander before going into the theatre.  Mr C and I wasn’t sure what to expect but we both thoroughly enjoyed the play based on a true story.  Half way through the first half a stage hand came out to say there had been a medical incident and asked the actors to leave the stage. I thought it was one of the actors but it was an audience member that was up in the circle not too far from us but we had been totally unaware of any problems.  After 10 minutes the show was back on.

We headed back to Embankment to get our train home and by now it was positively chilly.

Extras of London.

Oh, and the stage blip…. I thought was just a backdrop but the actors actually walked down the winding path.
