Cetaceans*

Another gorgeous day - I reckon that's at least 5/6 in a row (21C at 18.07) ! We were in the water by 9am - absolutely still, crystal clear and pretty damn fresh! Then we decided to head off to Schull and the Film Festival, the only day we can get to it. A great atmosphere in the village, full of colourful arty types talking colourful arty stuff. Unfortunately the film we wanted to see was sold out and we couldn't decided which programme of shorts to watch - you can just rock up in a cafe or pub and watch a programme. When we had eventually decided it was so hot and crammed  I'm afraid we gave it a miss and had a sandwich down by the sea followed by a colossal ice cream. We then decided to walk up Sailor's Hill, a narrow little path that wends pretty steeply up , yes, a hill. The sailor built a little lookout on the very top and the views are sublime. Enroute we spied this wall full of whale and dolphin skulls now being taken over by nature, mainly wall pennywort. There were also little shrines placed in the walls. I think we made the right choice re activities.

And a very enjoyable evening last night and the moussaka was excellent. We sat in the conservatory until we realised we could see each other any more- around 10.30pm! The space station went over again when I was in my bath. Never a dull moment.

* A large humpback whale is currently enjoying itself in Tragumna West Cork.
