Manchester to York
Apologies, I am way behind dipping into blippers’ journals. I’ll catch up as and when I can.
It was cooler this morning as we walked to the station to catch the Trans-Pennine Express to York. The train was over-crowded, seats fully occupied and the aisles filled with standing passengers. It trundled through Stalybridge, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Leeds and finally York. MrMacD’s long-term friend was waiting for us at the station. We drove out of York and into the country where he and H have a lovely cottage with some land on the side of the river. We had coffee then a tour of the cottage and property. It’s a really lovely cottage in a very nice spot. The wind was cold, though, and the temperature dropped so I retreated inside.
P cooked a very nice rib of beef, which we had with lovely crisp green beans and new potatoes, followed by a Sicilian lemon tart with raspberries, and red wine, of course. We had a most enjoyable evening with lots of robust debate and retired to bed tired but happy.
The blip is of P and H’s garden.
