Unpacked
When we were very much younger, and had older relatives who liked to drink sherry, one of us bought for the other the cut crystal sherry decanter.
The large red wine decanter also shown here was a leaving gift when I ceased to be the chair of an important committee. Attractive to look at, it has always seemed too big to use.
A few weeks ago when investigating one of the boxes packed for us on emptying the beach house, I saw the crystal decanter and decided that would be just the right size for a bottle of red wine. In fact it is slightly too small for a full bottle, but just right for one small glassful less than a full bottle. And as there are six to seven of those small glassfuls in a wine bottle, its an excellent way to hold my weekly allowance.
