Eurovelo 7 - Day 1- Bolzano

We have officially started our bike tour. On our way out of Bolzano on the Eurovelo 7 bike trail had a great view of Sigmundskron Castle, home of the Messner Mountain Museum, which we visited yesterday. We rode 50 km on a 2-lane ‘bike highway’ through a wide valley, with high mountains on either side. It was flat as a pancake…so easy riding. On either side of the bikeway, the valley was filled with acres of espaliered apples (strudel), vineyards (Pinot Bianco), and asparagus! The trail also followed alongside the river, the railway, and unfortunately, the highway. We made it to Trento by mid-afternoon - ready to sit still, have a cold drink and pee.
