Carder Bee

J’s sister arrived early yesterday evening, and is with us a couple of nights. Tomorrow she heads back early, she has an appointment at the vets with her two dogs that she cannot miss.

This morning we visited the gardens at Arley Hall, which were looking in good fettle. And this afternoon we spent quite a bit of the time in our own garden, in the glorious sunshine. The carder bee fits today’s macro bill.

Our bee hotel is now quiet, for the time being at least. The 5 bee tubes filled with red mason bee eggs then larvae all produced bees who have been through the process of starting the next generation. We now have 16 tubes filled with cells which should produce many more bees next year.
