'It's Too Cold!'
This morning I went to Sculthorpe Moor for a wander round and because the bird ringers were there. It's been a very cold, drizzly day with a max temperature of 11C. Not a good day for catching birds and ringing them. After being caught in nets, they're collected in bags, then measured, weighed and ringed (if not already ringed) - see photos in the collage in Extras with a reed bunting at the top, and a long tailed tit at the bottom. It was so cold that some of the birds were reluctant to leave, including the willow warbler in my main photo (better large). It was nice and dark and warm in the bag, then warm in the hand, so they thought they'd hang around. The willow warbler was carried over to a bush to leave when it felt like it. This afternoon I watched the final set of an exciting women's match where Blinkova eventually beat the number 5 seed Garcia after having had numerous match points. I'm now watching the Alcaraz match. Just about to ring Anglian Windows who've not been in contact yet following my urgent call and email on Friday (the installation should be this Friday).
