Downy Emerald
Patrolling the lake edges, very close to the bank, under trees mostly I could see these constantly active dragonflies which never settled, hunted forever and had huge territorial disputes. When they flew into a patch of sunlight their eyes lit up like emerald headlamps which was amazing!
Trying to id them was tricky as they appeared as fast little silhouettes to the eye but eventually 100's nearly 1000s of shots later I was satisfied they were downies. Great to get a shot of one of them that is faintly recognisable. (I'm sure Hubs was secretly hoping my camera batteries might give out as well as the computer and that was a very close thing!
