A day of bees

After the market Rob and I went to Leighton Moss to see the baby Avocet chicks. There have been around 50 hatched so far this year so looking good. We found this male white tailed bumblebee wandering about, the males generally have a little moustache of hairs which makes them recognisable.
When we got home I had a message from the Kendal swarm group, with a swarm needing a new home. I offered to take t, and Sally arrived in due course with a cardboard box wrapped in a sheet! We opened it n front of my empty hive and watched as the bees gradually climbed in, spotting the queen on her way too. That should build into a successful colony, perhaps in time to collect some lime honey for me!
