Not a good day
Today I had arranged to spend on a Butterfly Conservation walk. I was really looking forward to it. However, I found out last night someone had made arrangements without telling me I'd be needed to a) look after Hazel and b) to be there when the grocery shop arrived this lunchtime. I was not a happy bunny!
So what to do for a blip? Well the simplest thing was to go out very early (well before the Cheese & Chilli Festival began) and watch the woodpeckers again, knowing they'd be there - and with my new tripod, of course. So that's what I did.
I'm sorry this shot is not very different from the last one. I've been trying to work out how to get different angles, but where they're nesting it's pretty impossible. Still, I shall keep thinking.
This, or course, is the male (you can tell by the red on the back of his head). This morning, instead of bringing back what looked like willow seeds (?) he has a tasty mouthful of squashed flies to feed the young. I have a sort of fantasy that if I go on watching this family I shall sometime in the next two weeks or so see one of the young ones poking its head out of the nest. Now that would be fun ;))
Nothing much else to report. Hazel and I had a pretty, if slightly truncated, walk; I've read and been domestic, and later I shall water the garden and jump in the bath.
Meanwhile, enjoy the remains of the weekend and have a great start to the week xx
PS: How the weeks fly by.. We're now (as from midnight yesterday (Saturday) onto #WFW23_10, so please tag your entries accordingly - thanks
