Swallowtail

I was enjoying an iced coffee in the garden after my walk and this butterfly was flitting around from flower to flower. Lucky I had my camera outside, but it took ages for it to settle on this flower for long enough for me to get a photo. I like the way the inside of its wing and its body glow with the colour from the marigold.
So looking forward to going over to the mainland tomorrow to see family and to go to Kalyn's grad from SFU on Tuesday. We heard that she's graduating with distinction. So proud of this young woman who has excelled in academics and athletics! She will be back for the fall term to play volleyball because the players missed a year of eligibility during covid. I'm sure she'll update us on what courses she'll be taking.
We'll miss seeing Krista. She finished her 10 week practicum last Friday and is heading to Shawnigan Lake for 3 weeks for a community placement here:
OUR ECOVILLAGE is a 25-acre Regenerative Living Demonstration, Research Center and Bioregional School hosting a land-based permaculture learning community. OUR vision is: sustainable well-being for the land, ourselves, and our worldwide village. (from the eco village's website)
Didn't have interesting options like that when we were doing our teaching degrees! She goes back to UBC in July to finish coursework and will graduate with her BEd. Another teacher in the family!  We're hoping to get a chance to visit her at the Ecovillage.
