Dunluce Castle and The Giant's Causeway
Another beautiful weather day here in Portrush, Northern Ireland. We anchored early this morning, and took the Zodiacs in to the harbour where we joined a group of fellow travelers to visit the Medieval ruins of Dunluce Castle, perched high on a cliff above the sea. It is certainly a romantic sight!
We also hiked the famous Giant's Causeway -- a weird geological phenomenon of stacked stone columns formed over 50 million years ago. These hexagonal basalt towers are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lots of people were scaling the heights, but we chose to stay firmly on solid ground to avoid a nasty fall (or worse!)
