A Beer With Phillip
Late morning we travelled to Kioni (Ithaca, Greece) about fifteeen minutes from our villa to see where the start of a sunrise walk we want to do tomorrow. After a coffee at a harbour bar, the waitress showed us where we needed to go.
We had a walk around the marina, and talking to a Welsh couple of women sailing the ionian islands, we made our way to cemetry beach nearby: Called that as there's a cemetry there! It's a stunning cove with shaded taverna and the best toilet you'll ever use!
Whilst Mrs BB enjoyed snorkelling I went off to explore and was admiring the church at the top of the steep road to the beach when I started talking to Phillip who was painting the church. He invited me to have a beer and we spent an hour chatting. Turns out it's his church! He spent a number of years working as a painter in New York before coming back to his home on Ithaca. A great afternoon and enjoyable to meet such a lovely person.
