Point of Ayr Lighthouse, Talacre Beach
WEDNESDAY
An eight mile drive over to Mostyn Hall this afternoon. The Hall (see extra), parts of which date back to the fifteenth century, is Grade I listed. It is currently occupied by Gregory Philip Roger Lloyd-Mostyn, the 7th Baron Mostyn, and is only open to the public on a handful of days each year. All entry fees are donated to charity. We had an excellent tour of the interior by our guide David.
Then on to Talacre (main blip). The beach was surprisingly busy considering that it was mid-week and term time. The lighthouse there is Grade II listed. It's non-operational and privately owned and is supposedly haunted by a former lighthouse keeper called Raymond who died of fever whilst on duty there.
Finally a stop off at the Big Pool Wood Nature Reserve.
