The male reed buntings in the marshes are doing a lot of singing just at the moment, as you can see.
Buntings being seed eaters have quite distinctive beaks the upper has a cut out to house the projecting element from the lower beak. It's easiest to see in the thumbnail, but if you look large you will be able to see the shape of the upper side of the lower part of the beak, to see what I mean.
The extra is of a common whitethroat with a caterpillar for its chicks. I watched it for quite a while but it was very cautious and stayed largely hidden in the bushes. This rather busy shot was the best I managed of it.
