Brand new...
Another busy one today, not helped by a shortage of staff attendance...
The contractor in sowing grass seed in a 38 acre field that was fodder rape last year. They have basically done the whole job, from spreading the midden of dung on it first, then ploughing ,power harrowing, rolling, seeding, then rolling again, hopefully lifting all the big stones as they went. I spread the nitrogen fertilizer on it last night,so hopefully my wheel marks will have been rubbed out when it was sown. All we need now is a good night's rain ,then the sun to come out again while we get all the sheep clipped and silage made !
An afternoon spent spreading fertilizer, with a wee break to come in and see Littlemiss all glammed up for her school ball at the Sheraton tonight, and take some photos before she left.
Was just about to head off to my chiro appointment tonight when this lorry arrived in with a 28 ton load of fertilizer. So a quick phone call to cancel, then set about emptying it. Was extra careful as the driver said his unit was brand new on Monday. It looked all singing, all dancing, 500+ hp, and cost the best part of £150K. Add on the 40 ft curtain sided trailer and £9K worth of fert, and it's a lot of money driving up the yard. Mind you you don't get any change out of £100K for a fairly modest tractor these days. The world has gone nuts !
