One and a quarter men in kilts!
Many thanks for your input into my new camera decision - yes or no?
With each comment, I'd agree -
Yes, have a holiday AND a new camera!
No you don't need one, you're doing fine with that one, take the flight up the Rift Valley instead.
I spent the morning still drooling over camera websites. I took Uncle A shopping - he did it this time, while I found an ice cream shop and a spare Metro and had a nice sit down, watching the passing waves of humanity, mainly parents or grandparents yelling at toddlers who don't take a blind bit of notice.
One harassed mum yelled,
'If you don't come NOW, the bad man will come and get you!' Hmmmm.
After we had done the shopping, I popped into town, to have a fondle of the cameras at John Lewis. I had actually been in on Monday afternoon as well. Today I got a very nice Irishman, Francis, who really knew his stuff. Not that the one on Monday didn't - he did too. But this time I pulled out my 600D with my Tamron 19-270 Piezo Drive lens and asked what I should/could upgrade to. He didn't try to sell me a 5D or a 6D. No, he told me my 600D was a great camera, and the Tamron lens was excellent too - he had one.
He spent ages with me, and the upshot is that he suggested I keep going with this kit and maybe get a prime 300mm lens later. Or a 2x converter. He was a keen photographer himself and did talk on about F numbers and E numbers (no, maybe he didn't mention them) while I nodded.
So a decision. No new camera. Saving heaps! Start planning the holiday, with a few extra treats thrown in. Phew.
When I walked up to St Andrews Square, I noticed big fences with black polythene round the middle of the newly laid road. I mentioned a week or so ago how beautiful it was now that it's clear. Well, I didn't believe it, but I went and peeked in the corner where there was a space in the black polythene. They are digging it up again!!! Could it be that they didn't want the public to see? Their incompetence continues to astound me!
There was a wedding party in the Square and this wee kiltie was running around. It struck me that it was the human equivalent of yesterday's shot, without the water, so I had to choose it.
