Heading For A Fall

We spent a lot of time looking up today on our visit to the Vatican Mseum, particularly in the Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo’s ceiling is every bit as marvellous and breathtaking as you’re led to believe. What really surprised me was the 3D quality of the painting.

Understandably, they don’t let you take photos in there so the main blip is a detail from another ceiling fresco, presumably Lucifer heading down and looking back on Paradise Lost.

Extras of the modern sculpture in the gardens, the amazing staircase you leave the Museum by, a pano of St Peter’s Square which unfortunately was closed for a do so we couldn’t get in there or the Basilica, and the Castle d’Angelo.
