I.O.U. -- Paid

...hopefully, in full, haha! I've got 3 good ones here for y'all.. Hope you like them and consider my debt paid..

1st on the left is The Rajah Sulayman Monument
-- In honor of Rajah Sulayman, a native Muslim king, ruled a large population of Tagalogs (what we call ourselves) during the 16th century. On 1570, a battle took place between the native Tagalogs against 300 Spanish soldiers. Defenseless against Spanish steel, and the fury of rival and Christianized tribes, Sulayman, together with other rulers and their armies fought but were defeated and the city burned to the ground.

2nd on top right is The Sentinel of Freedom
-- in honour of Lapu-Lapu, who is largely regarded as the first hero of the Philippines. As ruler of the Mactan in the Visayas of the Philippine Islands, he led an attack against the invading Portuguese in 1521, armed with spears against the cannons and guns of Ferdinand Magellan who was killed in the battle along with a number of his men. Lapu-Lapu has become a legendary figure, subject of poets and invoked in the Philippine Declaration of Independence.

3rd on bottom right is a relatively modern day hero Benigno Aquino, Jr
-- a Filipino Senator and a former Governor of Tarlac. Aquino, together with Gerry Roxas and Jovito Salonga, formed the leadership of the opposition to the government of President Ferdinand Marcos. Shortly after the imposition of Martial Law, he was arrested in 1973 along with other dissidents and incarcerated for seven years. Aquino was permitted to travel to the United States for medical treatment following a heart attack. He was assassinated at the Manila International Airport in 1983 upon returning from his self-imposed exile. His death catapulted his widow, Corazon Aquino, into the political limelight, and prompted her to run for President as member of the UNIDO party in the 1986 snap elections.

There you go guys, hope you enjoy going thru them.. I've also included some shots I took today, if you've still got time, and still awake from Philippine History class, here's more:
