Wildflower Meadows, Swaledale
Today we took a Sunday drive into the Yorkshire Dales. Our route from Northallerton took us through Leyburn, Reeth, Muker, over Butter Tubs to Hawes. Our return saw us drive over the hills through Deepdale, Hubberholme, West Burton then back home via Leyburn. A total of 90 miles.
My Blip was taken just outside Muker in Swaledale. The area is know for its buttercup fields and mixed into this where a number of other wildflowers.
Our intension was to have a cuppa in Hawes but it has started to get busy with tourist and it is now the time to avoid the popular areas. The local lanes I took are getting very busy with not only cars and bikes but even the odd 53 seater coaches! They take up the whole lane and should be banned. I had to back up 100 yards at one stage.
The rivers and waterfalls were quite dry. Like elsewhere we do need some rain soon.
