Woolly Thistle
I was out early again this morning - set off at around 6:45 - and walked just over 3.5 miles. It was cool in the woods and not too unbearable walking in the sunshine.
In the woods I stopped to photograph these thistle flowers! I have seen them before and always assumed that the fine white filaments were some sort of web created by a creature.
Whilst looking it up, I discovered that they are in fact fine white hairs with the appearance of wool….hence the plant’s name!
These flowers have yet to develop their characteristic purple tops!
