The Line Between Land and Sky

The light was striking at Spring Lake which is why I took this picture of a woman running across the top of the dam. Even in mono I think it looks almost surreal in its simplicity. I'm putting the original version in extras.
We decided to go a different way around the lake because the geese drive Spike spare. As we were walking by an inlet  which the rangers seem to be allowing to revert to grass*,  there was plenty of evidence that the geese had been there,  but no sign of them as we walked past.

It was a different story as we walked back. We could hear the fracas before we saw it. An older couple had a dog on a lead which was barking frantically and hysterically, at a flock of geese heading into the water and another dog in a stroller. They were standing there, apparently waiting for the geese to pass before walking  on. Several people with their own dogs in tow stood looking on. Suddenly the dog leapt out of the stroller and made for the water after the geese. We all stood transfixed as the woman clambered down the rocks toward the water. Spike was totally quiet. I was trying to think if either of us could help, but there really wasn't any way. Just as I was thinking this wasn't going to end well, the woman was clambering up the rocks with her dog in tow. At that point, a young, unencumbered man came along grabbed the dog and began pulling it out of the water. The woman was protesting that the dog had weak hind legs and that she had things under control. I was thinking the dog had displayed no weakness as it leapt out of its stroller and bounded into the water. I can only imagine what other people were thinking. The young man basically ignored her, and held the dog while she clambered back to the path. All this time their other dog continued its frantic barking. The young man handed over the dog, she thanked him and we all quickly moved on. I couldn't help saying, 'well done' to the lady as she passed me. It was quite a performance all the way around.

Back home Peter arrived to fix our app that shows solar panel output. Turns out that all the outlets on that side of the garage are dead, so he strung an extension cord as a temporary fix. I said we'd have to find out why the outlets were dead and Peter said, 'Or get a better looking extension cord'....He also made a few fixes for my computer (with lightning speed) and sorted out all the streaming apps on our television. We had dozens we didn't know we had, one (Netflix) which kicked us out because we aren't in the same household as Jim and Dana, and a lot that overlapped with ones we already had.

Now it's time to go through the daily tick check as they are thriving this time of year, lurking in the bushed and trees to drop onto unsuspecting dogs and humans as soon as they detect CO2 passing beneath. Spike is better off than we humans as he is protected by ivermectin, so they jump off him and onto us....

*second extra...the ducks are there to show that it IS water, sort of...
