RHS Wisley
It was another very hot day today. I had a run this morning, and then after breakfast set about downloading the latest firmware update for my camera which has some incredible new features for the camera. It is great how these days new features can be added to a camera by downloading a file off the internet. One of the main new features is a thing called 'auto capture' which can be used for photographing shy animals/birds that you do not want to disturb - you can set up the camera to be triggered by motion, subject or distance (with many sub menus to refine each choice) and leave the camera to fire away while you are hidden out of sight. You set the time period you wish to fire off the shots for, and the interval between each series of shots. The long battery life means that you can do this without worrying about the battery dying on you. Quite incredible!
Xena was then collected by P the dog walker and my sister and I headed off to RHS Wisley. Today the star of the show were the dogwood trees, absolutely glorious and covered in flowers. We also saw some purple roses, I have not seen those before. Some of the peonies were as large as dinner plates, and the alliums were adding structure and beauty throughout the gardens. The grass is looking very dry already. We walked all around the gardens, enjoyed an iced coffee at the Hilltop café, and then went into the glass house as I wanted to show her all the familiar South African plants there. It was a very enjoyable morning.
We came home for lunch and then had a relaxing afternoon. I took Xena for another walk later this afternoon, and now I must start thinking about cooking supper.
