A day at Stourhead

I met P and her lovely little cavapoo Stella. Her strategy since Lynne died is to be very busy; I admire her for it. It said on the map it takes an hour to walk round the lake, but we took nearly 6 :-) We looked at almost every tree, shrub and flower, which would have driven Lynne nuts. We sat for ages watching a family of coots - 2 busy parents and 4 babies with punky red feathers on their heads. And we talked about Lynne most of the time - other outings together, or funny stories.  But also about missing her.
In the extra I’ve shown a few of the wonderful plants - it was very difficult to narrow it down to 4. The first is a rhododendron, but not one I’ve seen before. The one like red Christmas lights is called chrinodendron hookerianum or Chilean lantern tree, the bottom left is an araucaria and (I think?) another rhododendron. The last is called a Chinese big leaved magnolia.
