Clearly not a duckling, but seriously ugly

A wonderful but searingly hot morning at the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust reserve. There was no sign of the kingfishers but lots to see around the place.

This chick was driving mummy moor hen mad, along with two siblings.

I was searching for butterflies but the only one I saw, a very speedy Speckled Wood, just wouldn’t cooperate. There were some banded demoiselles, a solitary damselfly, lots of sand martins, and quite a few baby frogs hiding in the stones.

My extra was taken this morning in my garden. Yesterday I saw a male and a female bullfinch on my feeders. This morning, the male was back for some more sunflower hearts.
