Not water

It did rain briefly early yesterday morning, but that has long dried away. What looked like wet setts were actually covered with aphid 'honeydew' (pee) - the maples are absolutely smothered with it at the moment, all their leaves glistening. And, I discovered, extremely sticky to walk on - it adhered to my boot soles all the way home.
