Not Your Usual Theatre

We’ve spent the day again wandering the colonnaded streets of Bologna, enjoying the main sights. Most intriguing was the Theatre of Anatomy in the main blip:

built in 1637, it was a lecture theatre where some of the first human dissections were carried out to teach medical students at the university.

Built entirely of wood it really is strikingly beautiful. In extras is a detail from the ceiling.

Also impressive is the complex of churches at San Stefano, dating back to the 11th century, also in extras.

It really is a very elegant city.
