Neptune

Another travelling day, from Florence to Bologna. Didn’t get to see much of the Italian countryside this time though as the 40 minute train journey was almost all through one long tunnel. Impressive piece of engineering though, as is Bologna station where most of the platforms are on two or possibly three underground levels.

Anyway, thanks to a slight oversight on my part (Tess has sort of forgiven me!) our apartment here was a bit more of a walk dragging a suitcase than we’d have liked and we were glad to stop in a cafe in the Piazza Nettuno, where the sea God keeps watch, for a reviving drink.

The luxury of the apartment where we were greeted by our charming host made up for it.

A bit of an exploratory wander round the main square this afternoon, a sit in our rooftop garden, and another fine meal in the Osteria Solferino where we were the only non locals.

Extras of our sitting room and the bell tower in the square.
