Change of Focus

It looks like today might be the last o the current hot, dry spell. Typically, tomorrow is the first day of my next butterfly survey week at Longshaw. Apparently, there have been very few sightings over the last few weeks, so I thought I’d visit a local favourite site to see if there was anything around. At first, I saw nothing. The thistles which are always a big draw were not quite in flower. Then I saw a Red Admiral and a Small White. Then a Thick-legged Flower Beetle - a species which used to be uncommon in the North of England (see extras) and finally, an obliging Large Skipper. Still not a lot around, but it’s a start.
