Appletree Croft
Finally on the first day of our holiday and we both feel like we need it! It no longer takes us all day to get to the north end of Scotland, so the morning was pretty leisurely whilst we packed and tidied the house. We rigged the bikes on the car, then decided not to take them as we thought it better to get a light board first just to be safe. Realised I was quite stressed about the bikes and felt much more exicted for the holiday once we made the decision not to bring them!
We broke to journey to get lunch from the deli in Dunkeld and the village was heaving. P ended up doing laps of the village as there was no parking to be found, then he picked me up, sandwiches in hand and we had lunch at the much quieter Hermitage. Someone was getting married in the folly there which looked like fun.
We arrived at our destination in the middle of nowhere in the early evening. The cottage is lovely, fantastic views, super quiet and the hosts seem lovely. The weather looks like it will be scorching all week, so we may have to change some plans - you don't really expect 25 degree plus temperatures in the highlands!
