Raft Race
After a morning watching the Trooping the Colour we wandered down to the canal to watch the CanalFest activities, joining at the Leamington Lift Bridge. By the sheer number of people on the pedestrian bridge, on the roadway and on the banks, it seemed there was an exciting event in progress, which was apparently raft race.
Over the heads of bodies three deep I managed a couple of shots; the raft on the left had almost submerged, was propelled by what appeared to be narrow curtain poles; that on the right much more buoyant and at least had a semblance of oars. As we couldn't really see anything we turned and wandered away from the basin, past various stalls, following the canal almost as far as Harrison Park before returning and walking round Lochrin Basin and eventually back to the car.
Extra of a TV view of the balcony following the procession's return to Buckingham Palace as the Royal Family posed and watched the flypast, which included 18 Typhoon jets making the King's cypher CR.
