Struggling to keep up
Another fine day today. The lawn is greening up nicely, but quite a lot of it is moss! There have been earlier dry spells but because it's been such a cold late Spring, we hadn't got round to de-thatching and moss killing. And it's not exactly a favourite task! Anyway, today conditions were almost perfect - dry grass, little wind and rain forecast within the next couple of days.
We have tried various methods of distributing the lawn sand in the past - the spreader sends the material flying everywhere and tends to clog up and it's difficult to know where you've been already when attempting to spread randomly by hand. You want full coverage - not too much and not too little, and certainly not in the shrub and flower beds. An additional problem with our lawns is that they are not rectangular but curve in and out. So, the applied method involved two string lines and two 3' lengths of cane to mark off square yards and apply a scooped measure to each. It took all day!
The garden is really coming to life these days at such a rush. There are blip opportunities everywhere but with so much to do, there's little time to indulge in blipfoto. So, today's shot is of the apple blossom basking in this evening's late sunshine.
