Race day

7am start, already high teens.
7.45am 15 mins heavy rain, temporary respite from the warming up but still in trees at this point
9am trip over stone and end up with grazes, bruises and a sore hand (and black eye next day). Walk a bit, apply plaster to hand and carry on with this view for distraction.
10.45am about halfway, not too bad for the time lost with the fall, 
12.30pm off the hill where there was a tiny breeze to the scorching valley and a longer stop at the feed station where I could get indoors.
2pm over another hill and some rough ground with great views, and a lot of walking, to the final feed station where I was told someone's car read 31C.
3.58pm (approx) the finish, nearly an hour for the last 2.5miles, but half was rough ground. 
Relieved to have made it round and delighted to get an age category prize.
