Inca and Tommy

We left home shortly after 9am and were in Cambridge about 2 hours later. The traffic was heavy but at least it flowed continuously. I parked near Tommy's college and then we went around the corner to Hot Numbers for a coffee. Inca cycled over to join us and Tommy came shortly after as he was in the gym when we arrived. Inca had just been for a hair cut, she had her long hair cut off. She joked she wanted to get in with her new hair style before Tommy, as he is finally getting his hair cut after he graduates next week. When he started university 4 years ago he said he was not going to cut his hair until he graduated, and so it has been the case. I cannot wait!!

After coffees Tommy and Inca showed Aunty Dor all around their college (Downing College). Tonight is their college ball - their college balls are not balls in the normal sense of the word, they are more a combination of a funfair and a music festival. It is a smart event, the dress code is black tie, but they have various food stalls with incredible food (Sticks n Sushi being one of them), marquees to dance in, funfair activity stalls, a carousel, swings and of course music. The better college balls get a well known headline act to perform - they have Tinchy Stryder and Toploader (Dancing in the moonlight...) performing tonight. It was interesting for us to see how they lay everything out for the ball. They start at 7pm and finish at 7am! As they say, Cambridge University students work hard and play hard. The ticket includes all food and drinks so although the tickets are expensive, they are value for money. One of the other colleges had Boney M performing.

We wandered into town and ended up having a quick lunch at Franca Manca before going back to Tommy's room to load up a few things to bring home. I think we will have to go back to help clear his room as he has so much stuff to bring home.

I decided not to take Xena with us as she would spend a many hours travelling in the car today, and dogs are not allowed in the colleges (grounds and buildings) so she was with P the dogwalker today and had a lot of fun.

We had awful traffic coming home and only got back at about 6.30pm. No need for supper tonight as we are still full from lunch, but I will make Gavin something.
